Research and innovation play important roles at any respected engineering school. Each year, 25% of all our students, are involved in research projects or specific research courses.

LACSC, complex systems laboratory

After the already longstanding integration of electronics with mechanics, the great technological revolution of the 21st century will be to transfer more and more intelligence to objects and systems to increase their performance. The concept of “complex systems” and communicators has emerged; a vast field of research and innovation affecting all aspects of our daily lives, whether it be transportation, energy, health, or more generally, the deployment of services on a large-scale.


LACSC research topics are:

  • The sizing of real-time embedded and distributed systems
  • Smart sensor networks
  • Control and intelligence in complex systems
  • The design of nanosystems (molecular or neurological sensors)
  • Encoding and transmitting multimedia data

ENSRF, quantitative finance laboratory

The Numerical Study of Financial Risk Department brings together teaching researchers on topics such as modeling operational risks, secured transactions, valuation of derivatives and the use of Bayesian network techniques. Articles written by ENSRF researchers have been selected for publication and presented at international conferences. Contributions appear in reference books at Elsevier, John Wiley and Springer. Publications on securitization, for example, or interviews on bank risk are also published in the Banking Journal or the Journal of Finance and Economics.


Nanotechnology covers vast areas that range from basic quantum physics to applied electronics, while touching on biology, chemistry and medicine. In this context, the Nano@ece team is particularly interested in three major research areas:


Mathematical Modelling and Scientific Computing (M2CS)

The aim is to contribute to the emergence within the school of research dynamics in applied mathematics on topics of current research. This new research activity concerns the mathematical modeling of smart materials and shape optimization.



Here, we are interested in the growth and stimulation of the axons of neurons on nanostructured surfaces to highlight the main physical factors that stimulate axonal growth.


Physics of Nanomaterials

Nanomaterials are at the interface between physics, chemistry, and biology. The industrial application of these materials is vast: the plastics industry, cosmetics, food, pharmacology, medicine, electronics, and energy.
