Education strategy

At ECE Paris, faculty listen to students. They provide numerous opportunities for interaction and discussion to strengthen and deepen students’ learning, both during class and when supervising teamwork on the projects that are a regular feature of the program. The faculty include both permanent professors and adjunct professors who hold other academic, corporate or industry positions.
To facilitate the transition between high school and the first year of higher education, over 70% of classes (practicals, tutorials and projects) are conducted in small groups.

Student Support

ECE Paris is committed to making sure all its students succeed, and has set up a number of measures to this end:

  • Interviews systematically arranged with struggling students, and their parents
  • Personalized coaching for struggling students with the supervising professor
  • Availability of permanent faculty: supervising professors for each year, further personalized support upon students’ request, curriculum and careers advice
  • Tutoring: classes on request for graduate students.

Management Modules

An engineer’s effectiveness lies not only in their scientific and technical expertise, but also in their ability to listen, work in a team, explain, negotiate and innovate. Interpersonal skills are an integral part of an engineer’s overall skill set, and are key to their career development. Management modules are taught to all majors from the second year of undergraduate engineering.

The management modules help students develop their team building and leadership skills; i.e., the ability to set objectives, organize work flow, communicate and motivate, as well as to measure individual and group performance in a constantly changing context. These classes are a springboard for rapid career development. Students are familiarized with the main corporate accounting documents (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) and, using business management simulations, are led to understand the interaction between internal decisions and the external environment (market, competition, supplies, etc.). Over the years, they will learn to determine a company’s performance, calculate the breakeven point and conduct a comprehensive business assessment, including HR.

The management curriculum is taught gradually and is designed to give students the necessary skills to manage profitable businesses. Classes are based on simulations (business games) between teams, conducted in English and French. The students are presented with principles of corporate accounting (financial results) in order to understand the interactions between the decisions made based on internal and external environments (market, competition, business provisions, etc.). At the end of the program, our graduates are capable of determining the company performance, calculating the threshold of profitability and establishing a global diagnostic, involving human resources skills.
